Pod 042 is the tactical support pod unit assigned to me, yes. Usually it can speak for itself, but that doesn't appear to be the case within this castle.

Could it be a problem with something in its mechanics? I know there's also this area of effect around that's messing with people's, uh, "abilities", but I didn't think it would affect technology like this too...

Beats me. It can still talk to me just fine, though, so it's still fulfilling its intended purpose.

It might be speaking at a frequency human ears aren't able to hear. If I had the proper tools, I might've been able to make something that translates it into text...

No, some are still around. They've adapted to our current environment, and most machines don't see them as threats. Guess they're naturally more resilient than humans.
