[ not having a face on top of being effectively mute might make it hard for varian to tell what the pod's thoughts are, but... at the very least, it doesn't seem to take it negatively??? ]

No... more like, it still talks out loud, but I'm the only one who can hear it.

It might be speaking at a frequency human ears aren't able to hear. If I had the proper tools, I might've been able to make something that translates it into text...

I wasn't aware animals could understand speech at all.

No, some are still around. They've adapted to our current environment, and most machines don't see them as threats. Guess they're naturally more resilient than humans.
